Guy Who Writes Tax Code Couldn’t Follow It Himself

The NY Post recently reported that Congressman Charlie Rangel hasn’t been paying all of his taxes. His excuse? He didn’t know. Of course, the IRS doesn’t accept this excuse from Joe Citizen so why should they buy it from the Chairman of the House Ways and Means committee — the committee charged with writing tax policy. Add this to the list of other things Charlie doesn’t know, like that he’s not supposed to secure for himself 4 rent-controlled apartments, or use one of them as an office. What Charlie does know, though, is he wants to raise your taxes. After all, he has a “monument to me” to build.
